During Phase 1, EVAN GILBERT DRAFTING & DESIGN INC. will begin the researching and planning process of your custom home design.
Once we have obtained the initial information for a project, it is imperative to our process that we gather information from our clients to better understand the vision for the design! We will either ask a variety of questions or we will send a home design checklist to fill out. We will request photos to help us visualize and get a better understanding for the design! Some great resources to gather photos would be our company website, our social media pages and our Houzz page. Once the checklist is completed, you may meet with the designer to discuss the details of your checklist and confirm the vision going forward or we can communicate via email, phone call or video call.
As a client with EVAN GILBERT DRAFTING & DESIGN INC. during this phase, we study all the initial details of your project, from the building location on the property, to the room locations in the home, to your wants and needs list, and reviewing your visual aids provided, we work with you to create exactly what you vision for your design.
Within this phase we include research and development. This includes, a site visit (if required) to see the property and take photos. It is imperative to understand the details of the lot and design a home that best captures the qualities of the lot, such as direction of the sun or angle of view corridors. In addition, our design team will research any subdivision guidelines, review local zoning bylaws and study all details of the lot.
The final step is for your designer to create some initial bubble diagrams and sketches. Not always is this step shared with the client, as these are concept hand sketches before moving to the computer. If needed, we may share early schematic designs to help guide the process forward.
